“Litterless Lunches” at Clinton

Caring for the environment is a community goal at Clinton School.  Over the past few years we have promoted environmentally friendly practices which have included the three “R’s” – reduce, reuse and recycle.  Keeping in line with this philosophy, Clinton is now implementing the next stage of the process.

The staff at Clinton is encouraging families to pack a “litterless lunch” at least three days a week.  Our ultimate goal is to implement the program on a full time basis by mid-April culminating in an Earth Day celebration.  The purpose of this initiative is to reduce the amount of garbage collected at the school (i.e. plastic wrap, foil, wrappers, pizza boxes, etc.).

Some suggestions for packing a “litterless lunch” include cut up fruit and/or vegetables, cheese sticks, crackers, granola bars, etc. in a reusable container with a thermos of juice or water which can be quickly washed out a home.

Please note, Clinton will no longer be recycling juice boxes.  As a result students will be asked to drink or empty their packets before bringing them home at the end of the day.

Taking care of our environment is a community affair.  The Clinton staff would like to thank the parents for all of the support they have provided in helping our school become a more environmentally friendly place to be!
